General

What is Thea Monitoring?
Thea Monitoring is an agentless IT infrastructure monitoring solution designed for MSPs and multi-site businesses.
How is Thea different from other monitoring tools?
Unlike traditional agent-based systems, Thea Monitoring uses lightweight hardware or virtual appliances (known as Endpoints) that monitor traffic out-of-band, reducing complexity and avoiding firewall headaches.
Who is Thea Monitoring for?
Managed Service Providers, IT consultants, and enterprises managing multiple sites.
Does Thea Monitoring replace my RMM system?
No. Thea Monitoring is designed to compliment your RMM system by providing out-of-band monitoring.

Technical & Setup

Do I need to install software on my servers or devices?
No, Thea Monitoring is agentless however OpenSSH Server is required for monitoring metrics (setup scripts available). Monitoring is performed by endpoints (virtual appliances or small hardware devices).
What platforms can Thea Monitoring monitor?
Any device with an IP address; including servers, firewalls, switches, routers, printers, and cloud services. Metrics are support on Windows and Linux.
How long does setup take?
Most customers can deploy a site in under 30 minutes using either a virtual Endpoint in your preferred hypervisor or a small hardware device such as a Raspberry Pi.
What protocols does Thea Monitoring support?
ICMP (ping), TCP ports, SSL certificate monitoring, SSH metrics (CPU, disk, memory, and more).

Security

Is data encrypted?
Yes. Endpoints communicate securely with the controller using AES-256 over TLS. Stored credentials for SSH Metrics are encrypted at rest both in the database and on the Endpoint using different encryption keys.
Will network performance be affected?
No. Thea Monitoring is designed to run out-of-band and does not sit inline with traffic.

Alerts & Reporting

How will I know if a monitored device has a problem?
Issues with monitored devices are displayed on the Thea Monitoring dashboard in real-time. You can receive alerts by email and browser push notifications.
Does Thea Monitoring provide historical performance data?
Thea Monitoring only records data during an active alert condition, such as high latency or a device repeatedly going online and offline.
